July 16-23, Door Creek Church will send
a team of 12 high school and college-age people to partner with Mission of Hope
Haiti. During this week, we will help run a Vacation Bible School as well as
partner with Mission of Hope’s Farm to
Table project.
Our participation in the Farm to Table
project is made possible through Door Creek Church’s Compassion Projects as one
of the Rooted Initiatives. The Farm to Table
project empowers Haitian farmers to sustainably grow food in country that will
not only feed Haitian children, but also help grow the Haitian economy. Through this program, participating farmers
are seeing triple digit increases in yields of crops and Mission of Hope is
able to provide food for Haitian schools with Haitian grown food. The Compassion Project funds that Door Creek
Church is providing will allow us to purchase and pack enough food to feed a
typical Haitian school for 6 months.
As we prepare to embark on this new
global partnership with Mission of Hope there are a few ways you can personally
help:
- Pray that God would open hearts
and minds of the people we will interact with, for them to not only hear
the Good News about Jesus, but also believe it.
- Pray for all the logistics to
run smoothly on the trip - everything from flights to ground travel.
- Consider helping fund students
who are going. This trip will cost each student approximately $1,500. If
you would like to help support this trip and have not been contacted by a
specific student, please email Brittney, the Student Ministry
Administrative Assistant at blutt@doorcreekchurch.org.
- Pray for those who are going on
this trip to be transformed by God's love for His people everywhere.
Thank you so much for taking time to
read about our trip. More updates will be written by multiple students going on
this trip. Please check back regularly to see how our preparation is going and for
updated prayer requests. We will also be blogging while we are on our
trip so you can keep up to date with all that we are experiencing in
Haiti.
